Class gets ‘can’celled at Long Beach High
Today at Long Beach High School, some classes were ‘can’celled.
Over the past few weeks, the students hosted their annual food drive, but this year, with a little added competition, students really showed out.
On Friday, teachers took all of the cans collected in each class and stacked them in the doorway and if the door was completely blocked, all of that teacher’s classes would be cancelled today and the teachers would treat their class to a preapproved movie and snacks instead.
Twenty three teachers and classes won the reward and got to sit back and relax today. 4H Club President Hailey Felder said, “At first we were like maybe at most we will get a thousand, two thousand cans and we ended up getting, I think the total is 5,500 plus some. It was just crazy. We didn’t think we would get this much.”
At least three different classes came together to load the cans into the truck.
