Where the City Stands and What lies Ahead in Pascagoula

The City of Pascagoula is really taking off, according to Mayor Jim Blevins who gave 2017’s State of the City Address this afternoon.
In a room full of Jackson County officials and rotary club members, Mayor Blevins discussed what the city has done in the past year and what’s next for Pascagoula. In his presentation he addressed how much Pascagoula has been growing as a city, pointing out the rising number of jobs in Pascagoula.
Mayor Blevins says the businesses in Pascagoula serve as the backbone of the city and lately they’ve been approving two to three business licenses every week. “What’s the future of Pascagoula? We continue to focus on five main areas. I’ll just mention a couple of them, but one is infrastructure. We want this city to be very reliable. We also want it to be safe. We outfit our police departments, our fire departments with the best equipment, the best people we can hire. We have a lot going on in those areas, as far as projects. We continue to make our area beautiful.”
And a new big development project is almost ready to begin in Pascagoula. Mayor Blevins tells News 25 the city will be developing a number of townhouses along the river front, making way for commercial space and possibly new restaurants.
