City of Picayune to add Safe Haven Baby Box
PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- Picayune is set to become the latest South Mississippi city to add a Safe Haven Baby Box.
The boxes allow mothers in crisis to safely and anonymously surrender their newborn children and are typically located at hospitals or fire stations.
The Picayune box will become operational on October 7th and will be located at the fire station on South Loftin Street.
There will be an blessing of the baby box ceremony on October 7th at 10 a.m.
