City of Picayune names new chief of police

PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Picayune has named its next police chief.
Assistant Chief James Bolton will take over the department following the retirement of current Chief Joe Quave in September.
Bolton brings 35 years of law enforcement experience to the role, including the last 20 years with Picayune police.
He’s served in several roles with the department, including narcotics, K9 and patrol, before becoming assistant chief in 2019.
In a statement announcing the move, Bolton says serving as chief has always been a dream of his and he looks forward to continuing to serve the Picayune community.
