City of Pass Christian upgrading railroad crossings to improve safety

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WXXV)- In Pass Christian, city leaders are taking new steps to improve rail safety.

Eight railroad crossings that previously had no crossing guards are now getting an upgrade.

Trains pass through the city dozens of times a day, but until recently, several crossings had no guards to warn drivers when a train is approaching.

Now, the City of Pass Christian has been installing new rail crossing guards at eight locations, aiming to reduce accidents and close calls.

The new guards include visible warning arms and signals designed to prevent drivers from trying to beat the train.
