City of Pascagoula under boil water notice

The City of Pascagoula has been under a boil water notice since yesterday.

The city’s public works contractor, H20, has brought in reinforcements to help locate what is believed to be a leak in the pipes.

Public Works staff, with assistance of regional resources, have identified the source of the water main breakage that has resulted in water continuity issues and the city-wide reduction of water pressure.

Crews will continue to monitor levels overnight. Repairs will begin as soon as possible.

Boil water notice remains in effect until further notice.

City schools and city offices  closed earlier today as a result of low water pressure.

There’s no timeline on when the issue will be resolved. Community Relations Director Lindsay Mitchell said, “So, now that we have more manpower out there, we are hopeful to identify this quickly and efficiently. And moving forward we will identify it, repair it. Then we will have a 24-hour testing period to make sure that the water is safe. Once we have the go-ahead, then we can lift the boil water notice.”
