City of Pascagoula releases new details on proposed annexation plan

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- Pascagoula leaders are sharing new details on the possible financial impact annexation would bring to the city.

Earlier this year, the city announced its intent to annex more than 25 square miles of unincorporated land directly east of the city limits.

Mayor Jay Willis and the city council released more information on the proposal, saying the formal presentation for annexation will not happen until January 2027.

Some of the things city leaders will point to when the process begins includes the estimates that annexation will add $25 million in revenue to the city each year, allowing the city to improve certain services as well as direct access to I-10 and the addition of new recreational areas in the city.
