City of Ocean Springs to trim tree on Washington Avenue for safety precautions

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- We have new details on how the City of Ocean Springs plans to go about with removing a historic oak tree.

The board of alderman voted to remove it Monday night, citing safety concerns.

City officials say that crews will significantly trim the tree for now to ensure safety during Cruisin’ the Coast and other festivals as an interim measure.

The tree in front of the historic Lovelace building is still set to be removed at a later date.
