City of Ocean Springs to begin work on two new projects

Ocean Springs is looking to begin a couple of new projects to help flourish the excitement happening in the city.

The first of the two projects coming soon is a multi-use facility along the beach. The city is currently in the process of buying this beach-front property that sits along the Coast near the end of Jackson Avenue.

When completed, the facility will feature marinas, an entertainment pavilion, food truck spots, additional parking, and so much more.

Mayor Kenny Holloway said, “Well we’ve tried to purchase…or the city’s tried to purchase for several years now, but finally worked out an agreement with the owner; and we’re ready to move forward. It’s very exciting. It’s going to be a great project. I’m real fired up about it, so I think it’s going to be a focal point for Ocean Springs.”

A developer has plans to turn the property at 1515 Government Street into another multi-use space including retail, a boutique hotel, restaurants, and more. A parking garage also will be added.

The city will be closing on the beach front property within the next 60 days and the Government Street property is currently in the final design phase.

The original story contained incorrect information which has since been updated.
