City of Ocean Springs preparing for New Year’s Eve event

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- Excitement is building ahead of tonight’s New Year’s Eve ball drop as Downtown Ocean Springs prepares to ring in the new year.

The celebration kicks off at 8 p.m. and to accommodate the crowds, several downtown streets will close and parking will be restricted throughout the rest of the day.

Officials say road closures are now in effect with additional barricades going up into the evening. Police, fire, and public work crews will be on hand to keep everything safe and running smoothly.

Remember to plan ahead when it comes to parking and road closures if you’re heading to the city tonight and enjoy ringing in the New Year safely.
