City of Ocean Springs hosting cemetery tours

Ocean Springs set up it’s very first cemetery tour in the city’s history to get into the Halloween spirit.

Guests for the event met up at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center where they were picked up by a bus and brought to the nearby Evergreen Cemetery.

At the cemetery, the group was guided through the graves where several actors, dressed up as Ocean Springs icons buried at the site, gave a brief history lesson on the person they represented.

Each of the eight figures showcased during the tour were an important entrepreneur in the city’s history such as Mary C. O’Keefe herself.

The tour was a one-day event; however, the city plans to continue the tours in the future.
