City of Moss Point provides update on tornado
The City of Moss Point held a press conference to update everyone on the tornado aftermath.
Mayor Billy Knight was joined by MEMA, emergency services, and Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann as they each gave an update from their departments.
Emergency services announced the extent of the damage. The tornado was only a few miles per hour away from an EF3, it covered six miles of a densely populated area.
Mayor Knight is encouraging people to not hesitate when it comes to reporting all damage their property has sustained to msema.org. Lt. Governor Hosemann backed the mayor up, saying the state will take care of the city. “I want to re-emphasize again that we are going to rebuild and we are a neighborhood. The Coast is critical to Mississippi and what you do here and how you live here. So, we’re looking forward to supporting you.”
The city has set up a ‘get help, give help’ hotline. Call 228-990-4222 for more information.
