City of Moss Point holds annual Christmas in the River City event

The City of Moss Point brought the yuletide spirit to residents over the weekend with its annual Christmas in the River City.

Saturday began with the Audubon Christmas Marketplace. Then, a festive land parade rolled through Main Street from the Southgate Shopping Center to Riverfront Park.

The city gathered at the riverfront for more good times with vendors, Santa’s villages, a Christmas tree lighting and music.

Santa arrived by boat later that night as a lighted boat parade floated past the park. Moss Point Parks and Recreation Director Donna Joseph said, “I think this is basically coming back from a year when we haven’t had any festivities, you know, due to COVID, and so now everybody’s just ready. So, we’ve got over 70 entries in our parade. Once we leave and travel down to the downtown area, then we’ve got festivities all day — vendors, food, music.”

Residents and visitors were treated to a fireworks show after the lighted boat parade.
