City of Gulfport sets date for special election for Ward 2 seat
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The Gulfport City Council has set a special election date for the Ward 2 council seat vacated by Ron Roland.
The special election will be held on Tuesday, June 9 with the qualifying deadline for candidates landing on May 21st.
The qualification process begins Tuesday, April 28 and prospective candidates must have lived in the ward for two years and collect 50 signatures from Ward 2 residents to qualify for the race.
Roland’s family submitted his resignation last week so that he can continue to focus on his recovery from a severe fall that happened last July.
