City of Gulfport schedules road closure for section of 5th Avenue

(Gulfport, MS) – The City of Gulfport has scheduled a Road Closure for a section of 5th Avenue between 25th Street and 28th Street for a sewer cave in repair project. Work is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and is scheduled to reopen on Friday, September 11, 2026, by 3:00 p.m.

25th Street, 6th Avenue, and 28th Street will serve as the designated detour route to accommodate traffic.

While the roadway will be closed to through traffic, all residents in the affected area will continue to have access to their home.

The City of Gulfport urges all residents to proceed with caution and follow all traffic markers and flagger instructions in the area.
