City of Gulfport passes resolution for Ward 5 special election

The Gulfport City Council passed a resolution to set up a special election for the vacant Ward 5 council seat.

That motion passed unanimously at Tuesday’s council meeting. The election is set for February 18^th.

Ward 5 Councilman Myles Sharp resigned from his seat on December 30^th, citing a new job opportunity.

The winner of next month’s election will serve through the end of the current council term which is July 1^st.

The council seat, along with all Gulfport Council seats, will also be on the ballot for the regular general election on June 3^rd.
