City of Gulfport passes resolution for Ward 5 special election

The Gulfport City Council passed a resolution to set up a special election for the vacant Ward 5 council seat.

That motion passed unanimously at Tuesday’s council meeting. The election is set for February 18th.

Ward 5 Councilman Myles Sharp resigned from his seat on December 30th, citing a new job opportunity.

The winner of next month’s election will serve through the end of the current council term which is July 1st.

The council seat, along with all Gulfport Council seats, will also be on the ballot for the regular general election on June 3rd.
