City of Gulfport hosted third annual Gumbo Fest

The City of Gulfport kicked off its highly anticipated Gumbo Fest on Saturday.

Chefs from across South Mississippi gathered at Centennial Plaza as they competed in the Stir da Roux Gumbo Cookoff, vying for the coveted titles of best gumbo here on the Coast.

Trophies and cash prizes were on the line and even municipalities got in on the fun as they faced off in the mayors’ cup for bragging rights on which city has the best gumbo.

In addition to all that tasty gumbo they were serving up there was live music, art vendors, and much more for everyone to enjoy.
