City of Gulfport and Gulfport Main Street postpones annual Gumbo Fest

GULFPORT, Miss. – January 20, 2026 – The City of Gulfport has postponed this weekend’s 4th Annual Gumbo Fest due to hazardous weather conditions.
The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Forecasted icy precipitation and strong winds present unsafe conditions for outdoor festival activities, prompting city officials to move the event to a later date.
“Public safety must come first,” said Mayor Hugh Keating. “While we regret any inconvenience this causes, the weather simply won’t cooperate this weekend. The silver lining is that our talented Gumbo competitors now have additional time to fine-tune their award-winning recipes.”
This year’s festival will debut at a new location at the corner of 14th Street and 23rd Avenue.
Cooking teams and vendors can still register through February 13, 2026. Registered participants will receive direct communication.
