City of Diamondhead Town Center project expected to start in the next month

The City of Diamondhead is moving forward with their plan to create a town center.

The vision is to create a walkable downtown environment. Town center would encourage retail shops, restaurants, and professional offices to locate in the Aloha District.

The master plan includes condos, apartments, town homes, and other types of residential living. Diamondhead Mayor Nancy Depreo said, “We’re very excited about our new town center. Where we are at right now is we’re putting in the first 3,400 linear feet of road frontage. So, that project should advertise to begin within the next month or so, advertised to bid.”

The project is expected to cost about $4 million.
