City of Diamondhead holds 10th anniversary celebration

Tuesday was the tenth anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Diamondhead and the people of the area got together to celebrate.

The event began with a presentation featuring special guests such as former Diamondhead Mayor Chuck Ingraham and Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann to discuss the city’s past and it’s rise over the years.

The celebration was then followed by award presentations given out to former and present council members.

Years of service awards were also given out to past and present city workers who helped shape the city into what it is today. Mayor Nancy Depreo said, “We are very excited to see the growth. I actually worked on the timeline – the boards over there – that go through the prelude, the beginning, all the way through the year 2022, so it is amazing to celebrate. Look where we started, where we are and where we are headed.”

Some plans for the future of the city include the revitalizing of the business district and the bringing in of a new roadway connecting the residential area to the new business district.
