City of Biloxi working on a solution for lights at Popps Ferry Soccer Fields

Parents took to social media last night and today to complain about the lack of lights at the Popps Ferry Soccer Fields in Biloxi.

Last night was the first evening of play for the soccer teams in the recreational league and the teams were playing under makeshift lights that left much of the field dark and in the parents’ view, dangerous for their children.

WXXV reached out to the City of Biloxi to find out what was happening. The city closed the fields in August while new lights were being installed.

But City Spokesperson Cecilia Dobbs Walton said a miscommunication between the league officials and parks and recreation led to the teams playing on fields with no lights.

Both sides are working on a solution that will allow the children to play their games safely, she said.
