City of Biloxi to fix Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park Pier

The City of Biloxi received just over $900,000 from the Tidelands Funds this year.

$500,000 of that has been allocated to the Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park Pier and repairs. The loop pier was damaged by Hurricane Zeta and Cristobal in 2020.

The damage has laid untouched largely due to the lack of funds. There is no start date on it yet, but the City of Biloxi is excited to get started. Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Cecilia Dobbs Walton said, “The Popp’s Ferry Causeway, having those walkways over the waterfront. It is very beautiful. People go out there and fish, people go out there and sightsee, so the City of Biloxi knows that it has been an eye-sore. So, we’re definitely going to move on with repairing and demoing the project, to make it usable to the public as soon as possible.”

Tuesday the city council will also discuss accepting a grant that would help fix the Popp’s Ferry Drawbridge.
