City of Biloxi to donate firetruck to Rolling Fork

After receiving three new firetrucks, the City of Biloxi Fire Department has decided to give their retired one a new life.

The city received a firetruck in 2000 for the annexation of Woolmarket. It can hold up to 1,000 gallons of water and was built for rural areas, making it perfect for Rolling Fork, a town that lost everything during a tornado earlier this year.

The truck they currently have is a small tanker from 1996 and while the one they are receiving is from 2000, it still runs perfect.

Mayor Gilich is happy to meet this need in Rolling Fork. “That truck can be of great use to them during these times of rebuilding. We were helped during Katrina; we were helped on every occasion. So, it’s a little bit of an opportunity to pay back where we’ve been helped before.”

Now, the fire department is looking for a way to get the truck to Rolling Fork.
