City of Biloxi shares update on Popp’s Ferry Road expansion project

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Biloxi city leaders are providing more clarity on when the project connecting Popp’s Ferry Road to Highway 90 might be completed.

Right now, work is still in the infrastructure stage. WXXV News 25’s Brynne Baxley spoke with city leaders who say it’s about halfway there and things are moving right along.

On the south side, the water, sewer, and storm drain between Beach Boulevard and the railroad is nearly complete.

Work on the retaining wall that leads up to the underpass has begun.

As for the north side, infrastructure work has begun with underground utilities being installed.

According to the city, the road closure just south of Pass Road will reopen on Friday, May 1 at 5 p.m.

This expansion is a roughly $23 million project. It’s aimed at improving traffic, adding a hurricane route, and economic benefits.

It’s also important to note that the project is expected to fall within the original budget and timeline for work to be complete.

Work is expected to wrap up by the end of 2026.
