City of Biloxi kicks off carnival season with a Twelfth Night celebration
Ringing in carnival season, the City of Biloxi celebrates the Twelfth Night.
With a three-part event, carnival season has officially started on the Coast.
Meeting at the Biloxi Visitors Center, the reigning royal court of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association gathered at the Biloxi Lighthouse to turn off the Christmas lights.
Then the entourage paraded to Biloxi City Hall where Mardi Gras lights lit up the building, signaling the beginning of carnival season. Coast Mardi Gras Museum Board Member Patrick Chubb said, “People on the Gulf Coast are all about Mardi Gras. We are so ready to get rid of this COVID and get back to normal. We are ready to return with all the balls and parades and fun and parties.”
Everyone of all ages was dressed in their best purple, green, and sequins, ready to get back to coastal traditions.
