City of Biloxi Inauguration Ceremony
Municipal elections across South Mississippi wrapped up earlier this month and now cities are swearing in their newly elected officials.
Earlier today, the City of Biloxi had its inauguration ceremony for its seven council members and mayor, all of which were re-elected from the last term.
The council members took time during their speeches to thank family and friends as well as point out the growth and achievements in their individual wards.
Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich, who has held office for the last six years and will for another four years, highlighted Biloxi’s strong economic growth, referencing the city’s casino’s $199 million combined gross net income over the months of April and May and city having generating over $1 million in sales tax in back-to-back months for the first time ever. “We’re in a good spot. And we’re appreciative of our council– and as I mentioned– six years together, we know how each other think. I am the most hopeful that we’ll cross anything that comes our way. We know how to process, that’s the beauty of having the team back together. Six years together, that’s pretty strong.”
The first meeting of this new term of the Biloxi City Council will be Tuesday, July 6th at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
