City of Biloxi holds Hurricane Katrina Remembrance Ceremony

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Biloxi residents packed the visitors center Friday morning for the city’s Hurricane Katrina Remembrance Ceremony.

Mayor FoFo Gilich, Congressman Mike Ezell, and countless others led the ceremony, which included remarks about how far the city has come and prayers for all those impacted.

The Biloxi Fire Department recruit class 25-02 also read the names of those who died as a result of the storm.

Afterwards Mayor Gilich and Congressman Ezell spoke about what it meant to honor the 20th anniversary of the storm.

Attendees also had a chance to view artifacts from the Katrina Memorial at the visitors center and photo displays showing the city’s landmarks directly after the storm compared to now.
