City of Bay St. Louis preparing for New Year’s Eve Oyster Drop

Ring in the new year in old town Bay St. Louis with the oyster drop.

The oyster drop will take place on New Year’s Eve on Beach Boulevard. The event will feature music by Assumed Risk beginning at 7 p.m. and the Dave Mayley Band beginning at 10 p.m.

Later that night, the oyster will drop from the roof of 200 North Beach Restaurant with a firework show at midnight.  David Mayley said, “Last year because of what was going on, the event didn’t happen and I guess about two or three months ago we all got together and said let’s make this happen.”

Assumed Risk drummer/band owner Chad Barnett said, “The biggest thing is we are just looking forward to having fun. It’s going to be an outdoors event. It’s an opportunity that we get everybody together to have a good time. It’s going to be great live music. It’s going to be just a fun time.”

The fireworks show and bonfire on the beach are sponsored by Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre and family, Bay St. Louis Councilman Josh DeSalvo and family, Kings Waste, and organizer Jim MacPhaille.
