City of Ocean Springs Works to Improve Dangerous Road

In recent years, Ocean Springs Road, which stretches from Highway 90 near Singing River Hospital to Highway 57 near the I-10 overpass, has seen a large increase in traffic.
Now, Jackson County brought in BKI Engineering to conduct a preliminary study that will help to provide an idea of what it will take to improve areas where the road might be too narrow, too dark, or where the initial design of the road simply wasn’t the best option.
Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran tells News 25 that this is all preliminary, but the city and the county are working together to find a starting point. “The county itself hired BKI Engineering just to do a feasibility study to see first of all what were the traffic patterns, what were the crash data and the accidents. That’s what we have at this point. BKI will present those findings to the board and there will be time for public input on Thursday evening at the Civic Center.”
If you want to provide input or have questions or concerns, the meeting is at 5 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Civic Center this Thursday.
