City hosts ‘Meet with the Chiefs’ event with Gulfport PD and Gulfport Fire

The City of Gulfport hosted its first of seven ‘Meet with the Chief’s events.

As a way of community outreach, Police Chief Adam Cooper and Fire Chief Billy Kelley collaborated in a meet and greet with Gulfport residents.

From 4 to 5 p.m., police officers and firefighters stood at MLK Jr. Boulevard and Arkansas Avenue available to answer any questions people may have and become a familiar face in the neighborhood. Chief Kelley said, “It doesn’t happen a lot where you get two guys that have been with the city a while to go in these positions at the same time, but the police department and us have the same mission and that’s to make this place a better place to live and raise a family and we just want the community to come out and say hello and meet us and let’s talk a little while.”

Chief Cooper said, “We both really came up in Gulfport and they’ve watched us grow and to really this comes to fruition, we have a great working relationship, always have.”

The next ‘Meet with the Chiefs’ is Saturday, May 21st at Bayou View Park at 10 a.m.
