City Could Help In Road Completion Harrison County
This morning the Harrison County Board of Supervisors approved a measure to help spur development around a major grocery store in Biloxi.
The board voted for sales tax acquired at the Walmart Neighborhood Market off of Popps Ferry to be put toward further development around the store.
The money would be used to complete “Elzey Drive”, a road running alongside that neighborhood market location.
The completion of the road would lead to it running behind the store and eventually connecting to tommy Munro Drive.
The hope is the completed road would lead to more businesses wanting to open up shop in the area and add to what is a quickly growing part of Biloxi.
“It improves development as a way to finance it actually. The sale tax generated by Wal-Mart will in fact pay for the infrastructure improvements. The street improvements.”
– Tim Holleman Board Attorney – Harrison County Board Of Supervisors
The board also highlighted this measure does not cause any extra taxes on residents.
