City of Biloxi Sues Shuckers Owners
The City of Biloxi has filed a lawsuit against the owners of the Biloxi Shuckers, hoping to get a clear accounting of revenue from operations at MGM Park.
The City of Biloxi filed a lawsuit this morning against the owners of the Biloxi Shuckers, Biloxi baseball and the managers of the stadium, Overtime Sports. The lawsuit is an effort to retrieve documents showing attendance and advertising revenue figures from MGM Park.
The two year old downtown stadium and entertainment venue has served as a host for many Coast favorite attractions. Events such as battle of the bands, educational programs, college baseball match ups and even big-league appearances helped bring in thousands of people and dollars to the City of Biloxi.
Rental and management agreements for the park show that the City of Biloxi receives a portion of that revenue. City of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said, “We have received a little over 100,000 from the stadium operations. We feel like there are a number of revenue streams that haven’t been fully reported. One is the ticket sales. Another is the full amount on the rent. The third is the revenue stream from the video boards that are inside the stadium as well as the marquee out in front of the stadium.”
News 25 reached out to Tim Bennett with Overtime Sports who did not have much to say about the lawsuit at the moment. He did tell News 25 they are doing everything in their power to hold up their end of the deal and maintain a great relationship with the city.
News 25 also reached out to Biloxi baseball for a statement, but they have yet to respond at this time.
News 25 will keep you updated on this lawsuit as more information becomes available.
