Cinema by the Shore this Friday in Jones Park

Looking for something for the whole family to enjoy this weekend? Well, you’ve got a friend in the City of Gulfport Friday evening.

Cinema by the Shore is an opportunity to have a community movie showing at Jones Park. The event usually takes place every third Friday of the month. This month’s movie is ‘Toy Story 4.’ The movie, plus popcorn, will be free for everyone who attends.

After COVID-19 put a snake in everyone’s boot last year, the City of Gulfport can finally resume community events to bring back a sense of normalcy.  LaShaundra McCarty with the City of Gulfport said, “The Leisure Services department took it the hardest, as far as having to shut things down. They do so much in the community, and all of the events for the city really center around that department. For them to not be able to do things, it really hurt. They had to cancel a lot of their events including Harbor Lights. For them to be able to reactivate and offer things to the community, it is great for them.”

The movie starts at dusk on Friday, April 30th. However, you are advised to get there early to land a good spot and check out activities before the film thanks to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Island School of Performing Arts, and the Harrison County Library System.
