Cinema by the Shore Expands

Love birds can travel back in time and check out a movie the old fashioned way, now that Gulfport’s Cinema by the Shore will have movie date nights.
After all the positive feedback from the family movie nights in Jones Park, Gulfport’s Cinema by the Shore is expanding and will offer six date night movies in downtown Gulfport.
The city was able to add the date night screenings thanks to a grant by the Knight Donor Advised Fund.
The date night movies will be held during popular weekend events, such as Cruisin’ the Coast and the Gulfport Boat and Yacht Show so that tourists can join the fun, too. Chris Vignes with the City of Gulfport said, “It’s been overwhelming since it first started. Now, we’re going to have things like date night and throwback Thursday. What this does is gives people an opportunity to use different park spaces, get out and enjoy family night, date night and different aspects of the city in different areas of the city.”
The movies will be free. The city has yet to reveal the schedule and where the screenings will take place.
City leaders say participating restaurants will offer specials before and after the movie.
