Cindy Hyde-Smith co-sponsors hospice care workforce bill

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has announced her support for a bill that would improve and sustain the hospice care workforce.

The senator is an original co-sponsor of the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act. She cited a shortfall of caregivers in the healthcare system as the reason for this bill.

The legislation identifies three areas to develop. Those include workforce training, education, and enhanced research.

The bill has support from a wide range of organizations including The Children’s National Health System, The Alzheimer’s Association, and Catholic Health Association.
