Cinco de Mayo Sombrero Fest
Cinco de Mayo may be one of the biggest celebrations of Mexican culture here in the United States. Today, Mosaic Tapas in Ocean Springs celebrated with its very first Sombrero Fest.
Those who stepped into the Cinco de Mayo themed restaurant and bar took advantage of both drink and food specials. Margaritas, tacos, quesadillas and plenty of other Mexican cuisine filled each and every table.
With one of the owners of the restaurant being from Mexico City, employees tell News 25 they wanted to provide the most authentic celebration the Coast has ever seen. Bartender William Larsen said, “We’re going to have some koozies, a couple of t-shirts and everything, fake mustaches, some Day of the Dead masks. We also have photo set-ups where you can take a picture in a Mexican uniform and everything. It’s going to be fun.”
Popular Ocean Springs band Black Water Brass provided music for all to enjoy. The restaurant plans to host Sombrero Fest every year on Cinco de Mayo from here on out.
