Christmas Tree Recycling Program
There’s still plenty of time this month to get rid of your live Christmas tree in a convenient fashion thanks to Harrison County and Mississippi Power.
The annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program runs until January 13th, allowing you to drop off your tree at one of five locations.
Officials remind you to remove any decorations, lights, and tree stands before depositing.
Mississippi Power’s Kaila Moran Griffith says the program gives your tree a second life through Harrison County’s Beautification Initiative. “What’s so special about this program is that it’s really giving our tree a second life. So, they’ll all be recycled and made into mulch that will then be placed in public playgrounds and other public spaces. So, you know later in the year if you’re out visiting a playground with your children or maybe you’re at the dog park and you see some new mulch, it might be a Christmas tree.”
Locations available for collection include:
- Pass Christian Harbor
- The east side of the Long Beach Harbor
- The Courthouse Road pier in Gulfport
- Mississippi Power’s Plant Watson
- Rodenburg Avenue
