Christmas Feast in Wiggins
Dozens of Stone County residents enjoyed a Christmas Feast at the Stone County Fairgrounds Christmas Day.
People dug into holiday favorites and enjoyed each other’s company and embraced the holiday spirit. The Christmas Feast in Stone County started about ten years ago. When the idea was first put into place it was just for people who could not afford a hot meal on Christmas.
However, over the years it has grown into county wide holiday celebration and anyone who wants can join. Christmas Feast Organizer Dick O’Neal said, “We have about 50 volunteers and they donate Christmas Day to come here and help the community and serve the food and we couldn’t do it without them. We have a committee and we have been meeting since mid-October and trying to get everything organized and we get contributions. We buy the food. We have some food donated so that’s how all this comes about.”
Officials tell News 25 that they now feed over one thousand people.
