Christmas comes early for students at Bel-Aire Elementary
While Christmas isn’t until Monday, Santa came early for some students at Bel-Aire Elementary in Gulfport.
That’s because Academy Sports and Outdoors donated thirty bicycles to the school for their annual bike donation program that started 16 years ago.
If students had perfect attendance, good academic performance, or good behavior this fall, their names were added into a drawing to win a bike and helmet. Matt Fasler with Academy Sports Gulfport said, “Academy really wants to get kids outside with power of play. The way we are at Academy, we are all for less. So we’ve done this bike donation in different areas for over 16 years. So, it’s just something awesome we get to do and work with the community.”
The program stretches across 16 different states and is expected to help over 5,100 children this holiday season.
