Christian Collegiate Academy Signing Day: Two boys hoops standouts heading to the next level

Quite the story for a pair of high school basketball standouts from Christian Collegiate Academy, both signing to play at the next level this afternoon.

Davon Hall putting pen to paper with Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel and Amare Haskin with Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis.

Almost hard to believe, basketball wasn’t even in their long-term plans until their senior year in which they played their first and only season for the Bulldogs.

Both rediscovering the passion for the game they love. Haskin said, “Well actually, I was playing football last year. So, I was thinking like I’m going to play football somewhere. Then Davon actually told me to come here to play basketball. He was like stop playing football. You’re good at basketball. Why are you playing football? So, it means the world to me.”

Hall said, “Words can’t even explain. I really wanted to cry up there. It’s a blessing, like a big blessing. I would never even think I would be right here right now. I’m a way better person than I used to be. I would never think I would even go off to college. I probably would be somewhere else that I’m not supposed to be. So, this is a very great, positive thinking for me and to move forward in life and be successful.”

This season, Hall averaged more than eight points and eight assists per game, leading the state in the latter.

Meanwhile, Haskin putting up more than five points and five rebounds per game.

Both players named All-MAIS 4A and All-District 5.
