Christian Collegiate Academy running back Houston Mack signs with Millsaps College

When we first introduced Gulfport’s Christian Collegiate Academy to News 25’s 25 Teams in 25 Days prior to the 2020 season, one of the players interviewed was St. Martin transfer Houston Mack.

Over the last two years, he’s since made a name for himself as an MAIS All-Star on his way to signing a national letter of intent with Millsaps College.

This afternoon, the senior running back put pen to paper with the Division III Majors in front of family, friends, coaches, and teammates.

During his time as a Bulldog, Mack has racked up more than 800 total yards and eight touchdowns on 122 touches to go along with 85 total tackles, two sacks, and two fumble recoveries as a two-way linebacker.

An emotional day for Mack, who has long envisioned his future as a college football player. “Just me coming from where I’m from, me and my momma, man, we’ve been through so much, man. Everybody that’s been in my corner here helping me, it’s just a lot, man. I very much appreciate everybody that’s been around me, my family, my friends, everybody. So, they’ve just been here in my corner with me the whole time helping me. I never thought I would do this, man. Going to college is something I’ve always dreamed about, going to play at the next level of ball, so I just made it happen. That’s all I’m happy for. Thank God that I’m here and thank God that I made it, man.”

Mack says he’s going to be majoring in pre-law and that most of his family will be able to attend every home game in Jackson, but first things first, reporting to rookie camp in July.
