ChoRuss Vocal Ensemble performing this Friday in Biloxi
A group of Russians will be performing at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Friday.
Performing in the concert and hailing from St. Petersburg, Russia. There will be Nadezda Vinogradova half soprano, Andre Pugachev bass, Alexey Popov baritone and piano, and Dmitry Petrvo as the music director.
They make up ChoRuss, a spiritual acappella vocal ensemble performing a concert of classical Russian composers, Russian sacred music, folk and Christmas songs. It’s a concert that almost didn’t happen as traveling internationally can be difficult during the pandemic. “Very exciting, very exciting, first trip after the pandemic, it’s a miracle that we’re here.”
This is the second time the group will perform in Biloxi, but last year they were homebound because of the pandemic. “They brought culture in song here to the Mississippi Gulf Coast the last time they performed. They were fantastic. The people that came to the show just loved it and many will be back again this year to hear them perform.”
The show is Friday, November 19th starting at 6:30. Tickets are $10 at the door. The money raised goes towards the church’s general funds. It’s the only Greek Orthodox church on the Gulf Coast. “It’s a very rare opportunity to hear Russian music in Biloxi.”
