Child’s Walking Parade happening February 2nd

The city of Biloxi is getting ready for one of its unique parades.

The Annual Children’s Mardi Gras Walking Parade is this weekend!

The parade will start at 10 in Downtown Biloxi on Saturday morning.

Parade registration is free, but the window for registration is closing soon.

January 31st is the deadline.

The parade is for children 12 and younger and they can decorate their floats, bicycles, or wagons.

The theme of this year’s parade is “Leaving You Spellbound” in association with the Gulf Coast Carnival Association.

Cecilia Dobbs-Walton, the public affairs manager for the city of Biloxi, says the parade is great for the community and allows everyone to partake in the Mardi Gras fun.

“As part of our culture, actually this year on February the 13th, it’ll be Biloxi’s 325th anniversary on Mardi Gras. So Mardi Gras has been celebrated throughout its history,” said Dobbs-Walton. “So it is very important for children to take part in that tradition and learn about the history and they get to do it in a fun way, of course celebrating parading down the streets.”

If you’re interested in signing your child up for the parade, applications are available by going to Biloxi.MS.US/PR.

You can email the form to Programs@Biloxi.MS.US.

Late registration will take place an hour before the start of the parade.
