Children’s Parade Held in Biloxi

Governor Phil Bryant and Mississippi’s First Lady, Deborah Bryant, joined Helen Irlen of the Irlen Institute for the Mississippi Council for Exceptional Children Mardi Gras parade Wednesday afternoon.

The parade was an opening activity for the Mississippi Council of Exceptional Children Statewide Conference. The conference will be held at the IP Casino through February 6th. The Governor’s Senate bill for equal opportunity for students with special needs was passed last week.

Bryant says, “Children who are challenged, only about 28% of them are graduating high school. We must do all that we can, so tomorrow we will talk about new techniques. We will talk about mitigating some of the challenges that they have and what we can do to guarantee their success when they graduate from school and become happy Mississippians.”
