Child Advocacy Center making Christmas special for those in need
The South Mississippi Child Advocacy Center is making Christmas extra special for those in need.
The Child Advocacy Center, commonly known as Canopy Children’s Solutions, is currently hosting its annual Christmas Toy Drive.
Those looking to donate can drop off presents at the Gulfport and Pascagoula establishments.
Serving Greene, George, Harrison, Stone, and Jackson Counties, The Child Advocacy Center is asking for new, unused, and unwrapped presents for young children and teenagers.
This initiative is one of the many ways the center is making a difference in South Mississippi.
“Just know during this Christmas season, any toys that you can provide the child advocacy center, they’re going to go directly to families and children that are in need,” said Crosby Parker, the district attorney for Hancock, Harrison, and Stone County. “People ask me all the time what organizations are really doing something to help the community, and the Child Advocacy Center is doing that.”
“With things going up and parents having to make some tough decisions as far as buying Christmas gifts and putting food on the table, having the means to help them has been very impactful knowing that we can we can take some of the stress off of them,” said Channing Bilbo of the advocacy center.
“We have a room, a donation room and usually the parents come in once we talk to them and they can come through pick the toys because they know their children better than we do so,” said Eternity Scott, also of The Advocacy Center.
The last day to donate is December 16th.
