Cheeky Monkey in Biloxi selling King Cakes to kick off the Mardi Gras season
The official beginning of Carnival is here and you know what that means! It’s King Cake season!
Cheeky Monkey in Biloxi will be serving them up all season.
The bakery has been selling King Cakes since they opened 11 years ago. The dough is hand rolled, baked, and topped with icing and Mardi Gras colored sprinkles.
In preparation for Feast of the Epiphany, the official start of Carnival Season on January 6th, Cheeky Monkey baked more than 20 King Cakes.
It’s just the beginning. Between January 6th and February 21st, Cheeky Monkey will sell more than 3,000 King Cakes. Cheeky Monkey Cake Co-Owner Jennifer Noble said, “It’s something that we enjoy. It kinda gets people into the Mardi Gras mood. We are very fortunate to live in the area that we live in, and Mardi Gras and king cakes are a thing. Some of the other areas in other parts of the country, January and February are the slowest part of the year in the bakery, but not here in the south. Here in the south, the king cake season is what makes January and February some of our most lucrative months.”
You can enjoy a King Cake at one of the upcoming Mardi Gras parades beginning January 21st. For a full list of parades, click here.
