How to check for card skimmers at gas stations
Biloxi police found credit card skimmers at the Love’s gas station on Cedar Lake Road on Monday.
An employee was doing a routine maintenance check on the pumps and found the skimming devices on two separate pumps.
Biloxi police believe these skimming devices were installed between December 14th to the 17th.
Major Chris De Back tells News 25 there are some ways to tell if a pump has been tampered with.
“When you go to a gas pump certainly look at the mechanism of the pump itself. A lot of gas stations are putting the security seal on the doors. You know just kind of check the doors to see if there’s any damage. Just look at that kind of stuff and see if there’s anything that looks out of the ordinary and if it is just go inside and tell the clerk and let them check it out.”
These devices do not make the gas pumps unusable and police are not sure if any information was stolen or not.
If you have been to Love’s on Cedar Lake recently, make sure you are keeping a close eye on your account.
