Biloxi Police on Monday chased a murder suspect through D’Iberville and into Jackson County before taking him into custody.

Police are holding 34-year-old Andrew James Redmond of Augusta, Maine, for Maine State Police on a charge of murder. Redmond is accused of killing 34-year-old Tyler Robinson of Augusta on July 28. Robinson was found unresponsive on the side the road in Augusta. Redmond and Robinson were familiar with each other, according to Maine State Police.

Officers received a tip about 6:30 p.m. about a vehicle traveling on Interstate 10 that was connected to a Maine homicide. Police located the vehicle near the Cedar Lake exit and tried to stop it, but the driver fled, leaving the interstate and heading into D’Iberville.

The vehicle made it back to I-10 and headed into Jackson County, where other agencies joined the chase, finally stopping the vehicle near Exit 61 near Gautier, and both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody.

In addition to Biloxi Police, Maine State Police, Augusta Police, the U.S. Marshals, Maine Violent Offender Task Force, Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the New Orleans Task Force assisted in capturing Redmond.

The passenger, Redmond’s 33-year-old wife, Danielle, was not found to be wanted and was released.
