Charles Cooper remembered

Charles Cooper and his wife, Margaret, dominated the Christian gospel airwaves with the radio station they started against the odds in 1971 – one of the first FM radio signals available on the coast. Listeners who turned to the coopers’ Christian southern gospel for decades also found a valuable source for staying informed during Hurricane Katrina. WOSM held one of few working signals throughout the storm. Both on and off the air, Charles Cooper’s service became an integral part of the coast that will be missed.

Eugene Eubanks, former WOSM Operations Manager, describe him as very honest. “If he told you something, you could count on it, but on the other hand at least in my time knowing him he was very kind, gentle, loving, he always was concerned about people."

Funeral services for Charles Cooper will be held at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in downtown Ocean Springs this Saturday at 1 pm.
