Charged With Felony Simple Assault

A man was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he assaulted an E.R. Doctor at merit health who was treating his wounds after he was involved in a fight at a local night club.

Police say 22-year-old Deandre Rainey was receiving medical attention when he reached up and grabbed the doctor, digging his fingernails into his arm causing several deep abrasions requiring medical attention.
Police describe Rainey as being heavily intoxicated and combative when he arrived at the hospital.
Rainey is charged with felony simple assault.
He was taken to the Harrison County Jail and given a 25-thousand dollar bond.
